Rear End Noise

Does the leaf spring have plastic bushings on the front and back of the lower leaf?? Is the wear showing on the bushings?

Does it do it when you take off or stop too???

And any chance the shock could be bent?

Its coming from the spring itself not the round bushings. Thats what they greased though (That is what the TSB states).

It is plain as day that its not the shock and its the leaf spring. Basically turning right you can hear it clunk or when steeping on the hitch and bounch the truck up and down (compressing the spring) you can hear it. PM me your email and I can send you the video

This is the exact noise that mine started to make after I installed an add-a-leaf kit. Only does it on the left side, and it goes away when it rains......I just learned to ignore it.

I cant ignore it, its annoying as all heck especially with the windows down

I called the dealer (since their followup skills lack) today and they didnt call gm. I kindly asked if he would like to hear my truck over the phone. I placed the phone by the springs and shook the truck and he could hear it. Pretty bad when you can hear it over a cell phone.

Mine makes the exact same noise. The problem with them just putting in new leaf springs is that it will probably return. It s not like you got a defective spring. Many of them are doing the same thing. Don t know what to do about mine yet.

I have yet to hear one do this other than mine (nd a few others on here I wouldnt call this MANY). The dealer hasnt had any come back either. My 2000 never made this kind of noise. It is not normal. I think it is defective springs. My theory is when they either tied the truck down to the train or truck this caused an issue with the spring. Again just a theory of mine.

I know this might sound stupid but if youtake a long enough piece of tubing (one end to your ear) and a partner you may be able to narrow it down to... in the shackle bushings or at the leafs themselves. You could always lift the frame of the truck to open up the springs, clean em out and spray moly lube or graphite in between them.

I know exactly where it is coming from. Its coming from the leaf spring itself. I have sprayed em and the dealer has lubed them and it hasnt worked. New springs should hopefully be in tomorrow and installed Wednesday, we will see
