Are you be able to get straight toluene?  I thought the sale of that stuff is restricted because it's used to purify/manufacture illegal drugs.

you can get it if you are a registered contractor thru a paint store such as Sherwin Williams. I do synthetic and wood sports flooring for a living, and have to use toluene or xylene to thin the adhesives and cleanup paint spills for my synthetics i install. Could use a "lesser" product, but whats left with these two when you wipe something up, simply "flashes" off, as opposed to other chemicals leave a residue. My "mentor" lives in Canada. He drove to the states one time. Ran out of gas on the open road, had some toluene with him, dumped it in his vehicle and ran it till the next staion. Said it ran better than with regular fuel!

I read something similar to that in Hotrod magazine years ago. I wanted to try it in the race car a few years ago, but couldn't remember how mush to add, so I chickened out.
