Flipping Over Tow Mirrors

This may sound silly but I'm looking for a way to get these huge tow mirrors out of my line of sight when hunting. They are the factory installed extendable tow mirrors. I can't leave them in normal driving position as they smack the trees on these narrow roads we travel. We tried folding them in but then they block almost half of the door window. Extending them and folding them in didn't help. My hunting partner decided to fold his side forward. That got it out of the way but the first time he opened the door, it put a nice crease in the front fender of my 5 day old truck.

I thought of just taking them off after we got the trailer set up but that's way too much work. Has anyone tried flipping the mirrors over and exchanging them side to side? I know that they will look kind of dorky but they would at least be out of the way.

Or any other suggestions?

I don't see how either option would work, even if swapping them side to side were possible you'd lose all sorts of functionality. What is the issue with not being able to see out the side when they're folded? I know they take up tons of space and block a lot but if you're just on a woods road there isn't anything to see anyhow. Only other option would be to install the normal mirrors and either make do with them or attach the clip on extenders for towing (which I hear aren't that great usually).

With the mirrors folded in, you would lose some visibility to the side. If you are looking for suitable places along the sides of back roads/trails to start tracking deer or elk, then that could be a problem. Maybe all it would take is to move the seat forward or backward to gain better side visibility.

Going back to the standard mirrors may require a trip back to the dealer for a computer update and the door trim plate may have to be changed. There is another thread on a similar subject but it involves going from the standard style mirror to the tow mirrors and what is necessary in terms of retaining functionality.

I just bought an enclosed trailer and I went with the CIPA mirror extensions. They work OK but I really want all the mirror functions I have now like self-dimming, turn signal, heat, and power folding. For the amount of time I will be towing this trailer, I think the CIPA mirrrors will work. Certainly can't beat the $48 I paid for them.....

What's it matter if it covers half the window?...You do know that discharging a firearm from a vehicle is ILLEGAL...right?

They probably make a mirror like this, but it would be handy to have a mirror that instead of telescoping out, it also has a panel that slides UP, giving you a normal, thinner mirror during driving normally, and an additional mirror (maybe convex) while towing.

I'm gonna me upset if they invent this after reading this and get rich.

Yes, I'm well aware of the firearm regs. But is it unlawful to see out the window too?

No, but it IS illegal to hunt from a vehicle, excluding persons with disabilities.
