No Bottom End In 4.8 With 33 Inch Tires

Anytime you upsize your tires and dont regear, you are making the gear taller....so either you need more power, or you need to regear.

With my 6.2 and 3.73 gear I am not worried about running a 33'' or even a 35'' tire. However, if i had a 4.8 I would not have even thought about upsizing without doing a regear.

Remember if you regear the rear, you have to match the gears with the front...

Time for a Black Bear tune!

i just ordered a black bear tune were u able to notice a very big diffrence

Truck was night and day difference. Throttle response is way better, shift points and shift firmness are on point, and the truck just feels free. The best example I can give is stock felt like I had a open landscape trailer with a mower on it behind me, tuned I feel like it fell off and I'm running away from it.

fixing to buy new tires myself. how do yall think a 4.8/3:73 combo would hold up to 285/75/16? thats the engine and gears i have currently....

the OP has an 05 so he most likely has less then a 3.73 in his truck

your truck should be able to handle 285's no problem since you have 3.73

just what i wanted to hear. my 4.8 has been a very reliable motor and done everything i ever asked of it but the OP kinda made me question that tire choice...

When you put larger diameter wheels/tires on your truck, the reduction in torque at the rear wheels is directly proportional to increase in diameter of the wheel/tire. For example, if the new wheels are 10% taller than the OEM ones, you will reduce the torque at the rear wheels by 10%. That's pretty much the same thing as going from 3.73:1 ratio to 3.42 gear ratio.

hence the reason i choose to run 265's
