Removing An Add-a-leaf

Trying to level off my 4" Rancho lift a bit by lowering the rear. Went back to my shop and they offered two options: 1. Remove the add a leaf, softer ride and lose about 500 lbs. load capacity. 2. Replace the block in the rear with a shorter one and keep the ride/weight the same. The cost for either is in the $150 ballpark. Kinda sucks considering what I already have in the truck. Question is can I remove the add a leaf in my driveway myself with some common tools and a jack? Thoughts please, thanks!

The c-clamps are gonna be used to keep the factory leafs together?

swapping blocks out is a fairly easy job, and rough country has blocks for less than $80. What size blocks are on there now?

Download the instructions from the Rancho website, it has some good pics and diagrams on how to install/remove aal. A few tools and you're good to go, get a buddy to help.

Yes they are and the AAL is under them and above the load bar. The block is 3" I believe.

Found the instructions, doesn't look to difficult. It illustrates why you need the c-clamps. Thanks again folks!!!

Yes "C' clamps are a must unless you want that center bolt come flying out like a 50 cal. bullet after the nut is removed.

You may also need to reinstall your factory alignment pin, not sure if your lift came with new one for the add a leaf or not but I would guess it will be to long once the leaf is removed.

Removed the AAL and lost 2 1/4" in the rear. From 44" to 41 3/4". Guess what......it's going back in.
