ok so yes i know 95% of those videos are pure marketing bs but i still enjoy them...i love the commercials where various brand trucks are in the mud or snow or working, and i wish GM would release more or something like the torture test videos ford makes..maybe i'm crazy but i enjoy seeing trucks working hard instead of being used as grocery carts(funny thing is i don't work my truck very hard ever)

thoughts?

GM has done several. Search HD to HD on YouTube for a nicely done test/comparison done by GM.

i've seen those, GM lacks focus on their half tons...if i was an unbiased consumer looking for a 1500 and saw the ram and f150 commercials id be more drawn in that direction

What will releasing any of this prove? We already know they produce a great truck. GM seems to be spending their money on showing the new camaro ZL1 running around track (they also have a 24 hr torture test video) in Michigan. I would much rather see (and hear) this.

I understand what your saying, but I'd rather see the money everyone else is spending of video & celebrity hype & put it into the physical product. I didn't need a video to tell me my GMC was going to be a great truck. That's why I test drive any vehicle prior to purchase & drive it like I already own it...that's what's going to sell the product to me. 5 years, ~90k miles & not even a hint of regret or desire to trade or buy new.

Here's a link to one of the comparison (no real action though) back when they were new -

There are others on the right side related video menu too.

i'm just saying, i find the ford torture videos interesting and entertaining..like i miss the old 90s and 80s commercials where they are dropping boulders into beds and so on

I do think Ford does a better job at making the commercials funny/entertaining- Mike Rowe is a funny guy, Howie Long comes off as a smug douchebag. GM already has Tim Allen doing the narrative/voice over in some commercials, bring back Tim the tool man Taylor for a torture test or something! :)

They can show those commercials all they want, when everything is said and done, 30 years down the road there will still be more chevy trucks on the road than Fords. I find it amusing how Ford claims to be the best selling truck yet they lack longevity.

Plenty of old Fords around here, along with plenty of old GM iron too. As for best selling, Ford was and is the best single line manufacturer. GM could've claimed best sales with the combined GMC/Chevy numbers for ages but they didn't and now combined is still less anyway. The marketing isn't done to appeal to the brand-loyal- The big three along with the rest of the manufacturers have put out some absolute shit over the years but you will always find the diehard "I'll never own anything but _______" guys, no matter how bad brand x gets.
