Invalid Ip Address Issue

I know there are a few IT guys on the site so I'm hoping somebody can help me out. Searches on the internet have not been so helpful.

For the last few days I have not been able to connect my computer to my wireless network. I get the No or Low Connectivity error and when I go into the system I get the Invalid IP Address. I've tried repairing the connection, resetting the router and modem and nothing works. I've even tried connecting directly to the modem with no luck either.

My wife's computer will connect no problem and so will my PS3, so I know the problem is with my computer and not the internet/wireless network. I need to renew and update my virus protection to scan my system, but I can't do that because I can't connect to the internet.

I tried to repair the drive but it never said anything was wrong with it. I've thought about uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it but I'm a little hesitant on doing that.

Suggestions on what is wrong or possible fixes?

How do you have your computer set up? Do you assign it an IP address for your network or do you have the box checked that says "automatically assign one"?

Its a little hard to tell you what to do when I am not there looking at it but from the sounds of it I would get rid of all the networks on your computer and then scan for your network and try connecting again. What happens when you do that?

Also as far as connecting right into your modem it might not work doing it that way if you do not have your computer set up that way.

I actually had a virus attack my router before. it was a long drawn out process to get all the wireless and wired systems working again...
