Why No 6.2's On Dealer Lots?

Incentives on 2011 models DO NOT apply to 2012 models. I just checked with the dealer about that. Only incentive on 2012 GMC trucks is a $2000 rebate and when the truck is delivered is only when the rebate can be applied if still current. Trucks ordered now won't likely show up till Jan 2012 and typically incentives will change with the new year, maybe better or maybe worse. Dealers never know ahead of time as they keep that close to the vest.

Just went thru this discussion on Monday. Dealer has a customer truck ordered last week and has a TPW of 12-12-11 so its too late to get one built and arrive before 12/31/11.

Incentives are announced with end dates. Whether they get extended, increased, or decreased, is up to GM. I hear that even dealers don't find out until the day of or day before.

The system is not set up for people to "lock in" pricing when they order cars. If you think about it, this makes sense for the manufacturer; incentives exist to sell inventory, which usually means vehicles sitting on car lots. People who order cars aren't interested in buying what the dealer has, so there isn't as much reason for GM to offer them incentives.

Then I guess I just won't buy anything.

I will never own another 5.3 truck. the 6.2 is just THAT much better in my opinion. do NOT let the estimated mpg's scare you away from a 6.2! I have mine with the 3.73 gears and I'm getting equal to, and most times BETTER mpg's then my 2004 5.3 ever thought about getting! Best I've ever gotten with my 6.2 was 19.6 doing 70-72mph on the interstate with cruise set. worst I've ever got was 12-13 running E85 just for kicks and giggles to see what it'd do. I mostly run 89 but every 3rd or 4th tank I'll fill up with 93. My truck averages 16/17(hand calculated as well as DIC reflect this every tank) in mixed driving. where I live you have to drive 20 mins to get to any town driving and my average never suffers much at all when I'm in town. Trust me, I thought this engine was going to break the bank when I first made the decision to buy it, boy have I been wrong! Turns out my 5.3 in my '04 was breaking the bank worse then this setup ever thought about doing! My next truck will be another 6.2 or something similar, a turbo v6(if GM hits a homerun like Ford did and they turn out to be reliable) or a diesel(we'll see how far they've come in about 5-7 years). For now, though, I'm the cat's pajama's around my town with the friends who know about my 6.2 and the strangers that ask me why my tailpipe looks big and what kind of muffler am I running? The look on their face when they see it's stock and take a peek under the hood is priceless. the next question they ask....you guessed it....."how'd you find that? how much? I want one!"

I've been looking for a used 6.0 or 6.2L for years. I finally found one in Providence, Rhode Island. A 2010 Sierra SLT Z71, 6.2L with 35,000 miles listed for $28,999. I got it for $27,800. It still smells brand new.

When I was seaching for my 2010 CC LTZ, there simply were no 6.2s in the Northwest. Heck, I would have bought one had any been available. As It is, I'm darned happy with the 5.3, so not all is lost.

Love my LTZ.

If they want people to buy they need to have more of a selection on the lots. I don't see a reason why every dealer couldn't keep at least one 6.2 in stock? Not everyone is the same, some people want something different.

Go ahead & order one, that way you get exactly the options that you want and don't pay for any that you don't want, thats what I did

I have to take my truck in for Transmission work. Whenever I do I'll talk to my dealer, and see what they can do for me. Im not counting on anything though.

I kinda like the fact there are so few 6.2's out there.

Makes mine in the area more unique.

Will also keep the re sale value up for a long time.

I would have thought the resale would be good also.....boy was I wrong!! I was facing a change with my current job that was going to put me driving a long way to work and I thought I was going to half to trade in my 2010 LT crew cab silverado 6.2L. My truck had 15,000 miles on it....it is 1yr 5months old in pristine condition with a sticker price just under $42,000! I was offered $24,500 and that was at multiple dealerships I was shocked and was told its because of the demand in the the market. When I traded in my 08 crew cab sierra LT with 5.3 in 2010 it had 30,000 miles and they gave me $28,700 on trade. So needless to say i still have it and I'm glad too since the job change never took place. Just wanted to share my recent experience on trade in value. This was in WV and VA.

All this 6.2L talk sure gets a guys wheels turning, as it is I really had to barter with you know who (LOL) to get my used 1500 5.3L. If I had to do it all over again I get a 6.2L in a heartbeat!

Yea, which makes me wonder why the prices of the damn things are so high. I went looking Thursday at Rams, GM's, and Ford's and they are all way over priced! I'll probably just stick with mine.

Wow, I guess all the 6.2s are all in my area, your almost hard pressed just to find a 5.3 on the lot or on the street. Same thing with the "All Terrain" package, they are everywhere. I used to want the "All Terrain" package, but now everyone has it, but I still want the 6.2, even if its very popular. For now though, I am happy with my 5.3, maybe in a few more years...
