Disabling afm

Hypertech tech support says they didn't support disabling the afm system till 09. Does anybody know of a programmer that will disable afm on a 08 5.3 ? Thanks

yep.. the diablosport tools disable the DOD/AFM easily...

_{Love it since it is gone!!! Transferred the DiabloSport from my 2009 to the new 2011......little stranger shifts than I am used to. Just have the 87 tune in it now, need to try the 93 and see how it shifts.}

If it is shifting too firm now, email me or Lew your backup and last tune written files from the Predator and we can smooth it out a bit for you ;)

whats the benefit of shutting off the afm?

There are several benefits to doing this. First of all the most popular reason is for adding aftermarket exhaust. If you install dual or sport exhaust with AFM active then it sounds like crap when changing to 4 cylinders from 8. Secondly, the vehicle loses power and torque with this feature due to the shift points for conserving fuel. These are the two most popular reasons people disable this feature..

And the number one reason is to keep the 5.3 from Burning oil.
