Upgrades to the Stock radio for my 08 SLT

Hi folks,

I have an 08 D-Max crew cab with the premium sound system, GPS and what not. (No DVD player though) Is it possible to do a nice upgrade to the system without having to get rid of the factory control head? I like the factory look and features. The Bose speakers suck and I already have blown one or two of them, not to mention the fact that the audio really is not all that loud when I have it cranked all the way up. What suggestions do you have?

Most likely. I'm not a Bose expert as I don't have that from the factory, but you can with the regular stereo. But give it some time for someone with Bose tO answer, it is the holiday after all!

I can't help either, but I have replaced a Bose audio unit in a car before. That system used an odd impedance (1 and 2 ohm), so matching aftermarket stuff was a pain. I replaced the whole thing. Hopefully, the GM/Bose system uses standard speaker impedance. If you pull the door panel and look at the speaker, it should be marked. I would contact Crutchfield first. They usually have info packs on most vehicle systems.
