Question on oil filters - 2006 Silverado

I have a '06 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 V8, have some new oil filters that I had on hand from some earlier ('01) trucks.

 

Have a AC-Delco PF59 , but in checking the application for my '06 it shows a PF46 should be used.

 

Can I use the PF59 w/o a problem or best to toss it and get the 46?

 

Anyone know what the difference is of the 2 filters?

PF46 apparently replaced the PF44 & PF59

 

You can go to http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php and lookup the vehicle you have the PF59 for and it probably now takes the pf46

 

Verify this for yourself though because I will not be held responsible if it does not fit.

i thought all 5.3s use the same filter lol
