JL Audio Stealthbox Question

I have an '09 Crew Cab. For those that have installed the Stealthbox in the center console, what did you do with the 12v power supply that's there? Did you re-wire it somewhere else? That's about all that I use in that space but I do use it all the time and I'm hoping to keep it if I go this route. I couldn't find much about this topic using search so I apologize if this has been answered.

Thats actually a good question. I myself simply disconnected it but never thought about routing it to the upper compartment. Shouldn't be too hard - - just need some fabricating I suppose.

if you come up with anything let us know.

Im thinking about coming up with an adapter of some sort and soldering my iPod and phone chargers directly to it and running them out under the console. That's basically how I'm using it now with a 12v splitter.

I'll let you know what I end up doing when I tackle it in a few weeks.

I really like it. It is pricy but well built and completely out of site. The bass it produces is very tight and controlled and is even across its range - not just a whole bunch of low-frequency boom since it is a sealed enclosure which was exactly what I wanted.

But if you want something that can be heard down the street then you are better off with a ported enclosure.

Ya, pretty straight forward. The unit itself drops in and uses a single bolt to hold it in place - gravity does the rest. But getting to it is the time consuming part. You have to disassemble most of the font seating since all of the parts are interlocking and is kind of like a cascading install I guess you can say. Here is the install procedure:

If you do it go SLOW! Some of those parts are really fragile using that cheap plastic crap - sucks that auto makers still do that. Also, you will need certain Torx and E-type (opposite of torx) sockets to get the seats out. Look at steps 8 and 9 if you havent seen E-sockets before.

I'd advise waiting until you have the center console removed from the floor before pulling out the lower storage unit. I broke one of the tabs trying to remove it from the top.

After hearing the box, I think it would be better with the 8" woofer instead of the 10". It would be even tighter.
