tire questions

I am geting ready to buy new tires for my truck. 2005 GMC 2500 HD (torsion bars turned up to level the truck) plow prep w 7.5 western pro plus plow installed. and I tow a car trailer on a regular basis. currently have 265/75/16 BF goodrich all terains on my truck (good tires till u get to have tread then they suck! had Nitto terra grapplers 265/75/16 on prior only got about 25000 miles out of these tires.

I have after market wheels on my truck also.

 

I am looking at getting

 

1) Cooper AT/3 in a 285/75/16

or

2) Cooper S/T MAXX in a 285/75/16

 

 

 

my questions are

 

does anybody have these tire and what are the pros and cons of th tire?

 

how much am I going to have to modify my truck to get the 285 to fit?

I would think you may have some rubbing issues even with the torsion bars tweeked due to the extra weight of the plow.

I would stick the the stock tire size as said, when your plow is hooked up the front is going to drop threrfore you will most likely rub on full lock of the steering wheel also you will need the extra power to push the snow. If your running stock width rims then the center of the tire will be crowned a little on the 285s which means the center of the tire will wear alot faster then the rest.

The 285,s wil fit fine and look great.. Ive had them on ever hd ive had w/keys adjusted and not..

Not sure about those other models but i had a set of 285 cooper ss/t and they looked great werent real loud.

285,s all the way! Ive also had them on stock 6.5 wide wheels and with the right air pressure they Wont crown or wear wrong!
