door lock actuator???

Can anyone tell me what is the Green Pin (2 wire) connector is for on a 04 gmc lock actuator drivers side.......as the replacement part didnt have the 2 wire connector sleeve...........that the yellow plunger goes up and down in....

It appears to be working without it, it has on star but no hooked up, i am hoping it is for that...and not security
