Instrument Cluster Lighting Question

I've searched around but can't find what I'm looking for so please forgive me if this has been answered before.

 

I want to dim my instrument cluster more than the factory setting allows. When I'm on back roads in the middle of nowhere for hours at a time I like to dim my gauges and they are still pretty bright. Has anyone figure out a way to allow them to go dimmer? I don't care if it dims them a bit more at full brightness as the darned things are blinding if there's no lighting from the roads.

I can turn my dash lites down until they are just barely visible at night...is that still too bright for you? What truck do you have?

I think they may be able to be reprogrammed by the dealer.

I have an '09. They are still pretty darned visible at night when there is no outside ambient lighting.

 

I have a call to the dealer but they can't find anything at this point.

I have an '09 also, and I agree. I frequently travel open areas with no other lighting and my dash lights are entirely too bright, also in certain instances I park my truck and stay in the truck, the dash lights stay on unless I open my door - annoying.

 

On my 2003 you could dim the lights all the way until they were no longer was visible.

haha, I live in the city, but during deer season every weekend I drive 150 miles away to my camp which most of the trip is on unlit roads, it really bothers me when I get on the dirt logging roads near the lease on a night with no moon.

We don't have that problem around here. You can't turn the lights all the way off anymore?

Nope. I agree the dimmest setting can be too bright in the country where I live. No streetlights and not much devlopment makes for dark roads.

Boy you guys have sensitive eyes. Like I said above, wear them old people night time glaucoma glasses. Damn they really are changing the new trucks. You can't even turn off your dash lights anymore! How about putting a piece of tint over the gauge cluster lens?

Not really, I just live in the woods. You're from Massachusettes so you probably have never driven on a true country road before.

Not since I stopped driving to NH to visit my Ex-Girlfriend. Actually there are some dark roads around here, but my lights don't bother me and I really don't drive at night much anymore. Guess I'm getting old!
