Speakers, Amp, Sub with OGM-1?

Wondering if anybody upgraded their speakers and/or added an amp and sub to their OGM-1 installation...

 

What is a good drop in speaker upgrade for a 2012 EC equipped with the non-bose six speaker system?

 

How's the basic audio of the OGM-1 - would you add an amp?

I just got done installing polk speakers. they do sound better than the stockers for sure but an amp will be in my futre. I dont have a sub yet so I cant coment on that part.

I have Rockford Fosgates in my door's now as well. They sound o.k. with the factory head unit but will sound better once I get the amp in. I have a JL Audio 10" sub in a Subthump.com box under the rear seat that I'd like to have working as well, asap. Maybe after the weather breaks I'll get to it.

I added JL Audio speakers all around, a Stealthbox and a JL Audio 900/5 amp along with the OGM1. It sounds great.

I've upgraded everything in my sierra. OGM-1 signal to a JBL MS-8 which sends signal to three amps, a Alpine-PDX-F4 which powers a pair of Hybrid Audio Clarus Tweeters and the stock rear speakers, an Elemental Designs Nine.2x which powers a pair of Hybrid Audio Clarus 6.5"s in the stock front doors, and an Elemental Designs Nine.1 which powers 2, Sundown Audio SA-10"s in a subthump box.

 

Definite improvment in sound quality with the OGM-1 over the stock unit but that is due to a better signal sent via RCA's to the MS-8 instead of tapping into the speaker-level outs of the stock unit. I'm sure the unit puts out more wattage RMS than the stock one as well so that is a plus.

 

Audio controls are very basic on the OGM-1. You have a 9-band EQ and Fade Control. You also have the ability to turn the sub on and off and control its crossover point. For an audio enthusiast like myself, the OGM-1 lacks in the audio control department, as most aftermarket units do. Thats the reason I use the MS-8. I get multiple crossover functions, a 31-band EQ and time alignment.

For the guys who aren't as concerned with sound quality as myself, the unit will provide plenty enough control for a basic system.
