4L60E diagnostic port

I decided I wanted to add a trans temp gauge to my 05. I tried the factory setup, but wasnt good enough with a soldering iron to get it to work, and I was too cheap to buy a whole new cluster. So, I bought an Autometer trans temp gauge and a pillar pod.

I installed this same style gauge into my ZR2 with a 4L60E. Rather than drilling and welding on the pan, I used a small diagnostic port on the side of the trans. Seemed to work fine.

I figure that the port is the same on this trans as my 01 ZR2, but I want to make sure. Does anyone know if there is anything different about my 05 1500 trans as opposed to my old 01 S10 that would cause me not to be able to install my new gauge sender into the same location?

it's the exact same.

the only difference between the trucks is a different bellhousing and input shaft/ pump. The Diagnostic port is still there on the body of the transmission itself and works just fine.

OK. My main concern was that the port was a blind hole that got sealed up from 01 to 05, kinda like the mechanical fuel pump provisions on the last few generations of the 350. I figured that wasnt the case since it still had a plug in it, but I wanted to make sure before I did anything. A transmission is an expensive piece to just experiment on.
