Trucks or Pickups ?

I know I'm the minority here but from where I come from trucks haul grain and cattle, and pickups do the work.

 

I was brow beat by my dad and granddads when I was little for ever calling a pickup a truck and now I do it to my boys lol. Granddad always said if I tell you to go get the truck how do you know which one I mean, hence pickup or truck.

 

Not knocking anybody one bit just makes me laugh and think about both my granddads. Just wondering if there is any more old school farm and ranch kids out there?

 

 

Well, time to chime in. In my hometown your granddad would go nuts all we called it a "pickup truck" . Since those long gone days I've just call it my "truck" as that's what the title says.

It sounds kinda weird if I hear someone call it a pickup....it's "truck" all the way!

Heere we call them by size go get the 2500 or go get the hd or go get the 1500 or half ton of 3/4 ton etc etc same goes for the dump truck sizes

i have an older friend(lady is tough as nails) and she explained to me that a 1500 is called a pick up and anything bigger is a truck i just call a truck a truck...odd how termanology changes over the years
