Trucks or Pickups ?

I know I'm the minority here but from where I come from trucks haul grain and cattle, and pickups do the work.

I was brow beat by my dad and granddads when I was little for ever calling a pickup a truck and now I do it to my boys lol. Granddad always said if I tell you to go get the truck how do you know which one I mean, hence pickup or truck.

Not knocking anybody one bit just makes me laugh and think about both my granddads. Just wondering if there is any more old school farm and ranch kids out there?

A "pickup" is one of those fine specimins real truck driver find in the lots of truck stops and rest areas. :>)

I believe the term "pickup" has lost its use since our trucks have become so tough and improved. My dad's 49 Chevy was a "pickup", not a truck. It would haul a little grain to town and a few sacks of feed back home. It would never have pulled the 5th wheels, etc. that trucks today do. Today, thanks to technological advancements in mechanical engineering, we drive TRUCKS... not pickups.

u bring your "truck" and I'll bring my truck lets see who can tow more. :rollin:

No one get upset here I know I'm fighting a no win sitiuation, just having fun, but a pickup is not a truck. Pull into a truck stop and ask the boys to come out and see your "truck".

serious no one get upset just seeing how much fun we can have with this. It is the lighter side of pickups section

Well aint those called semi's or rigs? You dont see dealers advertising pickup truck sales, you see truck sale or Chevy GMC truck month not Chevy GMC pickup truck month.

I usually call mine a truck. Usually call the semis by brand, we'd say we're going to get the Pete, or the Freightshaker.

It made no difference if Dad said "get the truck" you had better return with the one he wanted!!! You had to be a mind reader sometimes. And when you have a car lot, oh wait a pickup and truck dealership you had better guess good and quick. To make it worse we sold International Trucks, Tractors and Equitment. It was called Truck, & Tractor. :jester:
