NBS Rear Brake Pad Replacement

Group,

First time replacing pads on the back of my 2007 Silverado Max. I was trying to find information about caliper compression but not much on the net about rear disk on the GMT900 platform. I assume these are push-in type single piston calipers? Didn't want to take them off without the parts in hand (young sons wanting to help/supervise). Anything much different than pad replacement on the fronts?

Thank you,

Steve

Yep. I hate that setup. They might as well have just stuck with drums like the 1500 did. Or make a caliper like ATV's have with a mechanical lever that forces the piston outward.

The new drums are much less fussy to work with, with the correct spring tool of course. Very basic & simple - the way things ought to be.

Open the bleeder before pushing the pistons in to avoid pushing contaminants from caliper into the BPMV. This should be done on front or rear brakes. Other than the drum in hat rotor/park brake pads as above, no difference.

i have to ask what contaminants you are talking about getting in the calipers?
