Is a gu5/3.23 differential 8.625 or 9.50 ring gear? Ima bout to service my diff and I need to figure out which gasket I need? Is the dealer the only place to buy the diff cover gasket?

Count the bolts holes. Round or oval shaped. Should be able to pick it up in auto parts store

Do I need additives or is 75w90 fine it's not g80 or 4wd

Synthetic 75w-90 is all that is required

Only the vortec max trucks get the 9.5" ring gear

you can use the spray shit to make your own gasket also if you don't feel like buying one or counting bolts lol

8.625" ring gear

 

I always just use the tube of silicone gasket maker (black) available from any part store. I've sealed many of these this way and never had an issue. Regardless make sure you prep the mating surfaces well.
