'03 Headliner

[GM Truck Family Man]

Just picked up my new '03 Silverado on Friday night and finally got to get it clean today.  I noticed in the sunlight that the headliner appeared to be a neutral color.  I have the Dark Charcoal interior, same as my '01, but the headliner in that was a light gray.  Just wondering if they are putting a neutral headliner in all interiors colors, or they screwed up at the factory.  If anyone has any info, let me know.

My 99 is the same way(graphite w/gray headliner).  I believe if you ask others, they'll say the same thing...dark down low and light on the top.

I think in the '03 models GM is skimping...  The way I understand it is that all the trucks have the same color headliner no matter what color the interior is....

For '03, all of the headliners are now the same color.  Sort of sucks if you ask me.  Most likely another one of those great cost cutting measures. ???

My '03 headliner is also light gray actually lighter than my 99's was.

The headliner on my 99 Z71 LT is sort of a brownish-gray and I have the graphite leather interior.  At first, I didn't like the contrast, but I don't really notice it now.  Given the limited interior color selections, I can understand how headliners would be an area to save some costs, I can't believe that 2 or 3 headliner colors to match the interior upholstery would have hurt.

 

Between the Chevy and GM truck types and the large number of units sold, the bean counters should have let the stylists do their job.

Thanks for the information.  I was betting that GM was saving $$$ by using one color for their headliners.  I must say I love the truck especially the dual zone climate control, RDS radio, new instrument cluster, and improved visors.  But I will also say they have cheaped out on other things my '01 had.  They removed the underhood light, dropped the extra power outlet, made the spare tire lock an option and the one that irritates me the most (believe it or not) they removed the stap in the armrest of the 40/20/40 seat that held the maps!.  The bottom holder is still there but the strap is gone.  One salesman where I looked at a truck said they "de-contented" the '03's to pay for the upgrades to the front end and the interior.  Come on, in the old days they changed the grill and tailights every year.  Besides they are continually raising base price and option prices as the season goes on.  My truck was an early build and was $200 less than one I would build today.  Oh well, got a $3000 rebate and a #### good deal so why complain.
