More like cooking and cleaning....

They are probably all out taking care of the stuff cops can't handle.... LOL

Like saving kittens from trees and standing on street corners with boots begging for money? :P

that and running into a blazing forest or a burning building while cops are watching and even some are in a drive through or at a donut shop..or when some **** decides to crash a plane into a tower who are the guys going in and taking immediate control of the situation? the firefighters..

Joe, it was merely some playful ribbing, the type of which has been going on since the history of Law/Fire. I would think a fireman would know this. Don't take me too seriously man.

i appreciate that form of appology.i just got a sense of disrespect probably inadvertantly i thought you were serious.the thing on the whole firemen dont take risks just doesnt sit right with me from expeience i take the situation seriously especially after 9.11.i appoligize for being so defensive just a sore subject..

+1 on the ribbing. I have lots of friends that are boys in blue. I definately appreciate all they do!

Most fire firefighters ive seen are mostly volunteer work . They all have to have a full time job and get paid like nothing .

Then I remember I could of taken like a little course and jump out of helicopters and tried to take out forest fires for some decent money .

Then I see those military trained water bombers flying around . Expert flyers amazing looking at there skills.

See the odd fire truck at a accident scene .

as a kid got to spray the big hose on a field trip at school

Oh yea and was horse back riding and in the dissent saw some controlled forest fire burns going on was cool but at the same time disappointing because the valley filled up with smoke and I had to leave for my animal sake and mine was getting hard on the eyes and breathing.

that's my experienced with fire fighters. I come from smaller towns/cities and the only time I think a full time fire fighter is needed is in huge cities were fires can be a daily occurrence but in these small towns no point paying a guy to watch tv and do weights in a fire hall 8+ hours of the day with a decent wage when there might be maybe one fire that year if lucky . There is plenty of guys willing to do that for free and be on stand by and get paid a little money for it .

Looks great on a resume .

I read a fire fighter made work for him self by starting fires . He eventually got caught and fired . Wish he would of burned up in the fire he cause alot of tax money burn up in smoke .

Over all fire fighters I like . Just dont care when there is a huge forest fire and they send all the fire firefighters on it to basically pee on it . Ive seen some huge forest fires in BC and none of them were stop by fire fighters . They burned out or weather was the main effect of it going out . They will have guys come in and make sure it does not start up again but if they cant get on a forest fire right away might as well just make barriers for houses and things because even 10 water bombers with a good lake near by will be like spiting on a fire. Its just a big make work project when something like that happens.

which is why a fire line must be established. a fire is only controlled when it is not expected to start up again that which is prevented by a thorough mop-up ensuring all evidence of any remaining smoldering fuel or spot fires are extinguished.

    • Did you ever get this worked out? Mike is doing the two start thing now too. This is after a new camera back in December.
    • I’m doing an experiment on a vehicle I don’t have much money in. I’m going by the premise that after they last 100K miles they were no mechanical problems with assembly. Or defects with the parts. With oil changes by the minder for the first 127K miles when I acquired it. I quickly went through low mileage oil changes then settled on 5k oil changes with close to 170K miles on the vehicle currently. I did have the option to turn off the cylinder deactivation. I didn’t on this vehicle because it’s in ECONOMY mode at least half the time. It should be a no brainer frequent oil changes are the key. The manufacturer gets away with the long oil changes with its severe service  maintenance. Just ask them what is normal.
    • Even set to "recirculated", the air pushes out and is hot. I have noticed that sometime it doesn't want to switch between recirculated/vented air. Say it is set to Circulated Air and I want to switch to Vented, when I click the Vented button, it just quickly lights up/clicks and immediatly switches back to Circulated. It's done this a few times now. So maybe it is an actuator getting stuck? But then, that doesn't explain the hot air when everything is off does it?
    • I wonder what the price is out at the coast, Big Sur or other out of the way locations as I bet they are charging quite a premium over the in land pumps.
    • Were you looking at the HD trucks on the GM website or the half tons as that makes all the difference. As far as I know there are only two options for the HD trucks and that is the standard 2 speed transfer case or the 2 speed transfer case that has the added 4 high auto feature and they put that transfer case by default into the LTZ and High Country although its optional in the LT and not sure if its available in the work trucks.    The half tons, that is where its been a total mess in my estimation for a few years now with most trucks below the top trim having the single speed transfer case as standard but with the option of having the two speed such as one would get by choosing the Z71 package, however then not being able to get the two speed transfer case with the towing package unless it was a higher trim truck AND had the 6.2 gas so one could combine the towing package gearing diffs with the two speed transfer case. Having said that if its a trail boss package then it gets the two speed transfer case but not necessarily able to get the tow package as it would depend on trim level and engine chosen. Believe me, people have bought the GM half tons assuming "of course it will have a two speed transfer case" only to find out after when they really pay attention to what they now own .... crap, there is NO low range !.    I don't believe Ford or Ram have gone that way yet with their half tons but like I say its been a few years now that GM has done this with the half tons.
