Advent OGM-1 with iGo Primo: First update is now free!

I heard this news a while ago, but did not want to post it until we verified it:

If you bought your OGM-1 with iGo Primo factory installed on it, you can go to www.naviextras.com and download the "NaviExtras Toolbox" (if you haven't already). Once you do this, and register your copy of iGo, you will now have the option to download the first map update for free!

I don't know if you should download that map update right away, since the maps already installed should be very recent, but it will certainly keep your unit serviceable for the next few years with no additional $$$ out of your pocket.

This is a huge commitment on Advent's part, and as far as I'm aware, is unmatched by any other manufacturer.

Once again, this units ROCKS!

Walt,

Any word on if and when those of us who bought the OGM-1 before iGo Primo will be able to download and install it?

Updated info from Advent:

As a FREE service to the user the system will check the map the first time it is run in the Naviextras Tool Box program and if a map data update is available, this will be done for free. This is an update that adds streets, addresses and POI (Points Of Interest). This is a $99.00 value.

Note: This must be run within 90 days of purchasing and navigating with the system the first time. Map operating system updates are always free, Map upgrades and updates must be paid for at the time of downloading from Naviextras.com. Advent / Audiovox does not sell or offer updates.

Please also note that iGO is a third party vendor, AVX Tech support cannot make changes or assist with naviextras.com web site interaction or issues. If you have a problem at the web site please click on the “SUPPORT” tab at the top of the page and follow the instructions listed in order to have your question about the web site answered.

THIS UPDATE IS ONLY FOR iGO MAPPING IN ADVENT OE SPECIFIC RADIOS – THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH NAVMATE BY HORIZON OR ON ANY OTHER RADIO. USING THIS UPDATE IN A RADIO NOT LISTED MAY CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY OR NOT AT ALL.

I can't get IGO toolbox to connect with the mSD Card on my Dell 8300 Desktop cardreader. Explorer sees all the files, but the Toolbox doesn't see the card. What do I dooooooo ????? :nopity:

Sometimes, it will help to unplug the USB cord from the rear of the card reader and then reattach it. Open Windows Explorer and see if the card is being detected by the OS. If the OS sees the card, then iGO Toolbox should also see it. If the card is not detected - try a different card or test your card in a different card reader - either one could be the problem. Ensure the contacts on the card are clean. To clean - wipe them gently with a soft, clean cloth.

I can see all the files in windows explorer from the SD Card. So the card reader is working. I believe something is not correct in the SD files that the toolbox needs to see before it will connect.

Just my opinion

Waiting for an answer from Advent on this one - you're not alone, Bill...

Yep. I have the same issue as Bill. I've tried on multiple computers and using multiple SD cards and card readers.

If you're having this issue, please report it via a trouble ticket to NaviExtras. This starts the process and will allow us to have some idea as to how many people this issue is affecting.

Advent is following the progress, but since this part of the navi system is handled by NaviExtras, there's not much they can do besides apply pressure...

Well seeing that we the consumer can't update the maps via the microSD card on Advents product, I would say Advent has a big problem also, because if we (I) don't get a solution, I expect Advent to take this HU back, and soon.

This is the response from Advent tonight when I sent another example of the SD card reading error to my contact at Advent:

Ok thanks

He needs to start a trouble ticket at naviextras. They are working on it but need to hear this from him with the details.

Bottom line is that it looks like NaviExtras needs to document these issues and determine what the individual cause(s) may be. I know Advent would love to solve it with one answer, but it looks like NaviExtras needs to see each one individually.

My advice is to do exactly what they ask - if you're having a problem updating the maps, start a trouble ticket at www.naviextras.com and document the steps you've gone through. If they have a enough tickets to establish a pattern, it will help lead to a fix. If we don't give them any info, they won't have the ability to fix it...

Having said all this, I think it's pretty amazing that Advent gives you the first round of map updates for free (no other manufacturer we deal with does this), so even if you're not able to update the SD card right now, you're out any $$$...

I received and email this morning summarizing our progress to this point - in a meeting between iGO and Advent reps last night, iGo said that finding the cause(s) is a high priority for them. But the biggest challenge for them are the amount of variables out there: type of computer, operating system, card reader, drivers, etc.

So it is extremely important that if you are having an issue, you need to go to the support part of the website and put in a help request.

We've been assured that they are tracking it daily and are trying to find a cause for the issue, but without the direct contact and information from the customer, they can't easily find a common denominator for the issue.

Walt one thing i noticed when trying to update my card was, it was reading from an older version of navi extras but i was getting a @@@@logofll error. and after updating it to a newer version of naviextras it wont see the sd card at all and i have tried it from three different computers an a couple different card readers. now my question to you is, is advent and igo going to honour the free map update if they cant sort this problem out within the first 90 days of having this unit, or can they simply replace the sd cards,or is it possible someone can just email new files to reload on the sd cards?.

    • I have A 2020 1500 5.3 8 speed. LTZ. Transmission problems since 60,000 miles. Started when I go to store in morning to get my morning coffee before work leave truck running get back in put it in drive/ rev no movement step on gas a little slams into gear. Put in neutral step on gas little shake then put in gear and gose.  Shut truck off start .. ok now at stop light stop truck after a few seconds feel a little kick if that doesn’t happen stuck in 3/4 gear shut truck off wait few seconds and start usually ok again. If you down shift manually ok as long as you get into 1st before stop. If not it kicks . I WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION. Now I want a new truck it just hit 80,000 IDK IF ILL BUY CHEVY CAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO RECALL . Oh I’ve changed the fluid and filter 3 times now. And yes used mobile 1 not ac/delco cause it’s not meeting the requirements that mobile is did use ac/delco filter

    • While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.
    • Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
