Hey guys i was wondering of I could apart paint my plastic valance on my 2011 silverado and if so what kind of paint and what steps to follow any help would be great thanks

Sure you can paint it, you can paint anything you want. Remove it, sand it so it's smooth, use a quality adhesion promoter and the proper paint. It will look great when you're finished.

If you are not doing anything special wit hit like color matching, just get a spray can of plastic paint.

Thanks my truck is white so color maching won't be a problem do they sell white plastic paint

I would use Krylon fusion paint for this project. It has special characteristics just for plastic and usually needs very little preparation and no primer coat for plastics.

That's the paint I was talking about, couldn't remember the name....If you want it to shine, hit it with some clear coat after you paint it white.

If you are wanting the colors to match, I would pick up a spray can of the proper paint code. Just buying off the shelf white may look silly because it will be a different color.

You should really just stick to automotive paints for this, anything on the front of your vehicle is going to be hit will a lot of road debris and bugs. If you want to do it properly you have to multistage sand it smooth moving from 80grit to 180 to 320. Then you apply a few light coats of adhesion promoter. Then a few light coats of primer, a high build primer can help cover and sanding mistakes, then for the best finish you should lightly sand the primer with 600 grit. Then come the coats of color, using duplicolor color match is easiest. Then you finish it with a automotive clear coat. If you want the best finish possible you wet sand the clear with 1500 grit and machine polish.

Of course the price of all those materials adds up quick, if you do the prep work yourself and take it to a local body shop they may be able to do it cheaper than you buying all of the materials.

It will come off much easier if you use a heat gun before using the fishing line. It will loosen the adhesive on the double sided tape and come off much cleaner.
