As far as handguns are concerned, i have a couple Ruger, Glock, and Springfield but out of those my favorite is the Springfield XDM 4.5 .40S&W. I like my Glock 23 but the trigger pull in my Springfield is a lot more smooth and it fits better in my hand.

For shotguns hands down, my favorite is my Winchester Super X3! It's really fast, shoots smooth, and swings easy on target. I bought the Super x2 back in 2002 and liked it so much that last year I upgraded and have not regretted that decision once. I was between the SX3 and the Maxus, for the price there wasn't a whole lot of difference so I went with what i knew was good.

As far as rifles, my all around favorite would have to be the Remington 700 in 30-06. It's not the most fancy gun on the block because it's just a basic bolt action but it is reliable, accurate, and fun to shoot.

Probably the little ol .410 in the foreground is my favorite. It's a 1926 Lefever Nitro Special that some fool had restocked in a beautiful English walnut and engraved and gold inlayed with some game birds. I found it for a real bargain, since it was loose and off face. I fixed it up in short order and have been shooting it for nearly 10 years.

Holy crap I just drooled all over my keyboard! Very nice!!

I've been dieing to get a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum for years now.

I always wanted one with the 4 5/8's "Gunfighter" length barrel. In 1989 Ruger made a run of them before they became a regular production item so I scooped one up. I have tuned it up somewhat by polishing the internals and the installation of a spring kit. I had fancy Stag grips on it but Pachmayr's are much more comfortable, especially when shooting 300 grain handloads. I love this revolver and it is unbelievably accurate.

Ok now that I know how to post pics...LOL

Ok, so my favorite "Timber" rifle is my original Winchester Model 71. Classic elegance and power. Slickest lever gun I have ever handled.

Favorite rifle: M-1 Garand...made at the Springfield Armory in 1944. Dad bought it in the early 60's right after he got married. Still in the original crate and wrapped in wax paper. He had it refurbished for me a few years ago and gave it to me, along with the M-1 Carbine he bought around the same time.

Favorite pistol: Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum ( K frame ) I know, I know, it's a 6-shooter...call me old-fashioned.

Few hand held weapons have the pedigree and bonafide Combat earned "manstopper" reputation as the .357 Smith & Wesson Magnum. I have traded and sold a lot of guns over the years but my .357 stays, period.

30-6.!

As Colonel Whelen said, "Barring the Great Bears the .30-06 is never a bad choice." Though its done the job on everything in the world at this point.

"Favorite" and "only one gun" are way different.

I try not to think of something so horrible as to "only one gun".

My latest hunting gun that I'm taking to North Dakota and South Dakota next week is a Parker Reproduction originally in 28ga and fitted now with some .410 barrels. I've become a .410 hunter in the last few years and hunt all the western upland birds with .410. Although, sometimes I'll pull out some other vintage doubles to hunt with.

Here's the Parker Repro with the .410 barrels

But I do have a soft spot for this one too. It's an Ithaca NID from the late 1920s in 20ga, restocked and refinished.

Hard to decide my favorite of my 870, Smith & Wesson 1911, and my new Bushmaster AR-15. I'm leaning towards the AR
