I have to change my mind on the rifle. After a trip to the range today my new favorite is my 1952 H&R M1 Garand. What a blast to shoot and surprisingly accurate for a 60 year old gun. Kept 8 shots in a 5 1/2 inch group at 100 yards with iron sites off a sandbag.

If I could only have one rifle to protect my family, home, and country. To put meat on the table, survive in the wilderness etc. It would be an M1 Garand. It is not the best thing for everything obviously, but it can perform all those task very, very well.

I've been dieing to get a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum for years now.

I always wanted one with the 4 5/8's "Gunfighter" length barrel. In 1989 Ruger made a run of them before they became a regular production item so I scooped one up. I have tuned it up somewhat by polishing the internals and the installation of a spring kit. I had fancy Stag grips on it but Pachmayr's are much more comfortable, especially when shooting 300 grain handloads. I love this revolver and it is unbelievably accurate.

I'm going through a wierd old military rifle stage right now. Besides the Garand I have 2 Mosin Nagants and am currently keeping an eye out for a nice Mauser. I was just so impressed with the Garand for its age. I just got it from CMP, and after a good cleaning took it to the range. I put about 100 rounds through it and it preformed flawlessly. I'm even thinking about using it this falls deer season.

Years ago when I was a lot younger I killed my first deer with a Garand. The old Weaver 4x scope on my Dad's Ruger M77 .30-06 had fogged up so I grabbed the M1. It worked just fine. I have a CMP M1 as well that I restocked and cleaned up. It shoots very well, well enough to win a annual nostalgia match 3 years in a row! With handloads mine will shoot 1 3/4 at 100 yards.

I had a norinco SKS for a while. That thing was fun to shoot and super simple to tear down. But in the end I didn't have any good reason to keep it,. so it is now gone. I'd like to roll that money into another ar15.

A budy of mine built a rifle from Del-ton. Seems like a good place to work with. They were out of everything he wanted so he go a lot of upgrades for the same price as the origional choices.

Never been able to shoot a garand, but I would love to.

Damn, this is tough. It's like choosing your favorite child!

My favorite rifle is by far my 1945 M1 Garand. That rifle is just amazing.

Handgun, I would have to say my Sig 239. Only because I shoot it the best and its been 100" reliable from day one.

Ok, favorite "Big Game" rifle, man its hard. I love my Eight Mag and my 300 Roy. My favorite hunting rifle though is my old Model 70 in 300 H&H. It is deadly accurate, a pleasure too shoot and has just the right balance and weight. I can carry it all day and above all I have absolute confidence in it. It is "MY" rifle.

Probably the little ol .410 in the foreground is my favorite. It's a 1926 Lefever Nitro Special that some fool had restocked in a beautiful English walnut and engraved and gold inlayed with some game birds. I found it for a real bargain, since it was loose and off face. I fixed it up in short order and have been shooting it for nearly 10 years.

Well, if I was to pick a fav big game it would be my Remington.

Model 700 300win mag

Stainless barrel with muzzle break. Leopold 3x9 gold ring

I have 2 stocks for it. 1 is black composite and the other is translucent grey with really nice grain.

My experience with firearms is kind of narrow compared to some of you, simple fact im in school at the time and resources cant go into toys :( But I have a S&W mp40 thats a pretty solid hand gun that myself and my nephew enjoy shooting. Only other thing i have to compare it to is a M9 Berreta. My favorite rifle is probably a M249 "SAW" or a plain M4 with the red dot site.. but those are preferences from the Army.

My Tikka T3 in 270 wsm is a fine rifle for deer, just everytime I buy ammo I kick myself for not purchasing a regular 270. It's stainless steel with a laminate stock.. pretty accurate, has a 4.5-14 x 42 scope and a harris bi-pod.

Favorite dickn around gun is a .22 i bought my nephew.. savage bolt action with their accutrigger, nothing fancy and we put a 3-9 scope on it.. I can place 10 rounds in a quarter or less at fifty yards.. pretty awesome for a 180$ gun.
