Grab Handle/Driver's Side

I did a quick search on the forum here and see that it has been a couple of years since this was discussed so I wanted to see if anybody has found a way to actually add a drivers side grab handle to the pillar? Not sure why GM feels they are not necessary...(or is it simply to cut costs?!) but these are trucks after all.

The pillar has what I would guess is one "mounting" location that has a flush, plastic cover over it. The passenger pillar however, has a molded shape where the handle is mounted, so I am not sure if it's possible to mount something or not. Will be installing a 4" lift soon and would love to have one handy. On my crew cab, the driver is the only location that does not have one! Any GM design engineers out there?! (I do not like idea of having to use the steering wheel) I am sure that there have been some creative ideas out there so if so, would like to hear about them.

Thanks all!

Really? Everytime someone uses my passenger grab handle, it sends shivers up my spine. I am waiting for it to be pulled out one day because people put their full body weight into it. Now if I had one on the driver's side, I would use care while using it so I guess I wouldn't mind it too much.

My Brothers Ford Has one and when I get in the drivers side I always smash my forehead on it.

I am glad my Sierra does not have one or I would have to always tell my wife I have a head ache!!!

It's more stout than it looks. There are actually two bolts that are threaded into the A-Post that hold this thing up. Thankfully they don't just clip in, however on the 99-06 trucks they do indeed just clip into the roof on the headliner.
