Going with smaller tire

Right now i'm running a 295/55r20 nitto trail grappler. I've put just under 5,000 miles on them and it's time to go smaller and lighter to get some mpg's back with my 3.08 gears.

275/55r20.. anyone running this size? looking at cooper zeon ltz's.

i'm looking for lighter and more narrow!

Well, 275/55/20 is the OEM stock 20" tire size. So probably alot running that. I run that on my Sierra and my wife's Yukon Denali. Going down will get you some better mpg's but I can't comment on the Coopers. Just put Michelin LTXs on the Denali and they are very quiet and smooth. I'll probably put them on my Sierra when the tires wear out. They cost a little more, but I think they are worth it.

Crap, I meant 275/60r20. They're same height I have now (33") but an inch narrower and a lot less aggressive plus lighter tire.

Not concerned with cost, it's a business expense lol. I just don't want to keep buying tires every two months.

I know some guys running those. They are a good sized tire and are a good bit smaller (especially Coopers) than your current Trails (which run large).

Wonder if it would make my 2.5" level with 2" rear blocks look goofy or not. I can't find pics of nnbs with that size.

I was running 275/60-20 Firestone Destination A/T, had a slight more aggressive look and road great. I lost 1.5mpg compared to stock and they rubbed a bit in reverse at full lock.

Do I understand the OP you correctly? You have a GMT900 z71 4x4 that only has 3.08 gears? If so, I didnt even know you could get a GMT900 z71 4x4 with 3.08's.......

Yes, 3.08 gears. Completely sucks. I can either spend roughly 1000 on tires or 1350 for 3.73 gears. If I had 3.42 I'd be happy.

OP, those tires will look fine with your setup.

Well if its a business expense why not go with the gears?

because i'll lose my warranty, or so my dealer says.

Main reason i don't want to gear it is because i have no plans of going any bigger ever than i am now. If anything, smaller just because i rub when turning and hitting a bump. I do all HWY driving so i was thinking the easiest fastest thing is tires.
