2013 question

Was talking to a salesman at a Philadelphia dealership today about a Silverado with a 6.2L. He said GM no longer offers that engine for 2013, WTF?? Anybody know if it's available? Neighbor is looking to replace his 2005 Ram with a 6.2 Silverado to tow his new boat.

Well, the re-designed 2014 will be coming out mid-2013. And from the little information available that I have read, I believe they will no longer offer the 6.2 in the 1/2 ton since the new 5.3 comparable engine is apparently going to produce 6.2 class horsepower.

 

FWIW, this is all here say and pre-release information that may be false.

 

 

But my point is, maybe that was the salesman was getting at.

He is looking to get a truck within the next few weeks. Wanted to know if it's possible for him to order one with a 6.2. Been trying to get him into a GM for years. If he can't, he'll be getting another Ram.

I looked at the GM order guide for 2013 http://eogld.ecomm.g...vehicleID=12789

 

Under mechanical it lists the L9H engine option for the 2013 Silverado 1500 LT and LTZ.

 

However as scarce as the 6.2's have been over the past few years, you have to wonder how many will be produced before the new trucks come out.

I would have to agree. The L9H Vortec 6.2L Variable Valve Timing V8 SFI E85-compatible, FlexFuel engine that is capable of running on unleaded or up to 85% ethanol is available on the LT and LTz for the 2013 Silverado 1500. It requires Extended Cab Standard Box orCrew Cab Short Box models. It also requires (Z82) Trailering Package and (NHT) Max Trailering Pack or (Z71) Off-Road Suspension Package or (Z60) High-Performance Package. IT is not available with (Z85) Handling/Trailering Suspension Package unless (NHT) Max Trailering Pack is ordered. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
