2007.5 2500hd 6.0 running board light wiring help

Bought some ionic lighted factory style running boards. There is no directions for wiring and I am getting no help using google. I want the lights to come on when you unlock the doors or the doors are open. Since the dome light comes on at these times I thought about splicing it into it. Is this a good idea and if so where are the wires located/which ones?

You try looking in an Haynes manual yet? I know they have a few schematics but other than that you may have to trace wires from the dome lights to its actual source of power. But that is a good idea though.
