2012 Sierra Z71

Just committed to buy 2012 sierra. Has everything I want except wasnt sure about z71 but didnt think it was a bid deal. After talkking with some people now concerned it may bounce me around too much, Going to be my daily driver plus used to tow a travel trialer. Dont want to back out of the deal because I got a great price but dont want something that is uncomfortable either. Is the Z71 a rouh ride?

i have never ever ever ever heard anyone describe a z71 as a rough ride at all

Never had a problem with mine and its 2 wheel drive. Rides like I expect a truck to ride. Is yours 2wd or 4wd?

All I ever had was GM trucks with Z71. I can tell you that the regular Z71 package with the black shocks has a smoother ride than the Z71 appearance package with Rancho shocks. The Rancho branded shocks are stiffer and is noticable. You should be fine, great riding suspension IMO.

Thanks for the responses so far. The truck I am buing is a 4 wheel drive. It also is equipped with 18" wheels and Bridgestone Duelers. Here is the description of the Z71 package on the 2013 Sierra. I assume it is the same on the 2012. doesn't sound too threatening.

This available option includes the following features:

• 35 mm deflective disk twin tube shock absorbers
  
• Jounce bumpers
  
• Skid plate package
  
• Z71 decals are included on both rear quarters
  

 

This package requires HD trailering equipment and locking rear differential. You also must choose from the following tires: LT265/70R17E all-terrain blackwall tires, LT265/70R18E all-terrain tires or LT265/60R20E all-terrain blackwall tires. It is not available with the pickup box delete.

Not sure about the "LT" tires, they usually come with "P" rated for the 1500 models.
