Hi all, I'm on my third GMC Sierra and this one is an 08 Sierra 2500 HD with the DMax. Love it so far. Can't wait to pull the house around the block.

I've been reading posts and am wondering what all the abbreviations stand for like LBZ, LB7, LMM, Lml, etc. I assume it stands for the generation but it would be nice to know.

Lots of good info here. Looking forward to my first oil and trans change.

Also, all I have for the truck is a get to know your vehicle booklet. Is the owners manual any better? Any suggestions on diesel manuals? I would love to learn more about my air masher.

Welcome!

The LB7,LMM, etc are for the different generations of the duramax. It's the engine code, not sure it if actually means anything, other than to distinguish between engines.

LMM

The LMM (engine code "6") debuted part way through 2007 and ended production with the start of the 2011 calendar year and is mated to the 6-speed Allison transmission. The LMM was the only Duramax offered for model years 2008-2010.
