Auto door locks are now deactivated. Yeah!

My local GM dealer obtained the programming from GM to deactivate my auto door locks. They charged me $50 but for me it was money well spent as my hunting partner was about to rip the inside door handle off whenever I was dropping him off for a timber hike.

I thought that they could be reactivated through the DIC (not that I want to) but I dont see anything in the menus. I don't want to find out that if I do a reset that the auto locks are now back in operation with no way to delete them. I think that I will just leave well enough alone.

Dude, you can do it in the DIC, I cant believe they charged you 50$ pretty crappy of them.

Yes you can on a 2008 like yours but not in a 2011. GM deleted that DIC option.

Was your 07 a "classic" or the new body style?

My 07 "new body" has no deactivation mode on its DIC menu just

lock in gear and lock at 15? mph.

I have a buddy that would have his hand on the door handle to get out of my G5 as soon as the speed got below 10mph, and pulling the handle at 5mph. The G5 would unlock the doors when engine was shut off (it was a stick). It used to piss him off to no end. I never could understand that. When he drove my car he did not have any issue with it. I think some people just do not like the idea of auto locks, it is like they take it personally. They still have to remove the seat belt, why do they need to open the door before taking the seat belt off?

He also hated the fact that they locked automatically in the first place.

My 09 Silverado has the auto door lock system, but I don't know if it is the same as yours.

Here are my opinions on door locks.

First, I like how the doors lock when you put it in gear. That gives me piece of mind when at a stop light, to prevent some car thief from jumping in.

Second. My wife doesn't like the door locked if I pull up in front of the house to let her out and it is still in gear. I used to shift it back into Park until I learned the easy way was to unlock the door.

Third. I don't like the Auto Lock feature where it will lock the doors on its own while parked or even sitting there idling.

I don't want to be locked out of my truck.

My wife's Pontiac Vibe does that and sitting in line at the gas station with the key off, after a few minutes the doors will lock.

I don't think they should have charged you for that but then they are out for every dollar they can get.

Glad you got it working the way you want, that is all that counts.
