Pedal to the floor

I was sqeezed under the dash this afternoon changing the brake light switch 'wasnt fun' Anyway i was looking at the gas pedal, i know its drive by wire..So i was just looking at the spring and the harness, Then i noticed the pedal wasnt going even close to all the way down.. I have an original set of floormats down and then a set of those deep plastic/rubber ones on top.. I pushed the pedal down as far as it would go then removed both mats..And got the pedal down another 1/2 - 3/4 " it now goes all the way down!! do you think i will see a difference from that?

I would think ill actually get full throttle now that its actually down as far as it can go. Let me know what you guys think or if anyone else has ran into this.

I just drove it and felt and saw a slight difference, there was more of a difference when black bear removed the 30 sec delay on full throttle!

yes! had the same thing in my 03 suburban with the stock floor mats and the pedal adjusted all the way back... then noticed the same problem with my 2001 with the husky liners. got a little more acceleration at WOT

With all the press these last few years about supposed "uncontrolled acceleration" and all the talk about not putting 2 floor mats under the accelerator pedal and Toyota calling back 9.3 million vehicles to check to make sure customers didn't put one floor mat on top of the another....... I'm amazed. That's all I can say.

Enjoy your new found acceleration. :noway:

Oh boy yes, I bet it will. Honestly you should just use one set of mats at a time. Say rubber in winter and carpet in summer for instance. I have had numerous customers with "Power" issues in their vehicles over the years because of this very thing. In some vehicles it is potentially dangerous and can catch the accelerator pedal, not good.

Yea, im down to just one now.. I hardly ever smash it to the floor anyway, I was just surprised how far the pedal was able to go with the mats..
