Prodigy Trailer brake controllers

Looking at the P2 vs P3. Both priced around the came. P3 looks a bit smaller and bit nicer display. Any reason to choose the P2 over the P3?

P2 has worked great for many years for many people. I was tempted to get the p3, but saw no need.

You won't have any issues with the P2 if you can buy it cheaper than the P3. The P2 is just about everyone's preferred choice.

There has to be thousands in use.

I purchased a P3 over the P2. Price difference wasn't much - maybe $10-$15 higher for the P3. If it had been more of a difference, I probably would have gone with the P2. I got mine from etrailer.com.

Yeah, its only like $10 difference in price. Looks like either one will do the the job. Its a gift from someone, and I have my choice of which one I want.

I dont know if the model had anything to do with it, but I prefer the older model over the newer ones because the new ones have a blue displa, and blue light in the cab give me night blindness. The red display on the one I have now doesnt affect my night vision.

I have a P2 in my truck and a P3 in my Suburban. Functionally both are the same and use the same controls. Looks wise I prefer the P3. I also like the troubleshooting features on the P3. It tells you everything that is going on. It can even be used to diagnose battery/alternator type problems as it will give you a voltage reading. I also thing it is easier to adjust to different trailers than the P3. The P3 do is shape/size also seemed to mount a little easier. The display color on the P3 can be customized to about 16 different colors I think (it is several).

So it is up to you to decide if the $ difference is worth the bells & whistles.

Got the P3 for Xmas

I have a P3 and it works great. Only reason I went with that one was because they were on sale a couple years ago on etrailer for the same price as th P2. My brother has a P2 and that one also works great, just doesn't have as fancy of a display.
