UCA Droop Stop Clearance

Hey guys,

I have an 04 Silverado with the torsion bars cranked. The ride is pretty rough and I can feel every little bump in the road in my spine. I took a pic of my UCA and droop stop clearance and wanted to know if the clearance is fine and whether or not longer shocks would help. The shocks I have now are the stockers and are likely shot at 115,000 miles. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

The bolts are pretty much maxed out - I didn't do it, the shop that put my tires on did (they are only 265/70/17). I know that in order to get my stock ride quality back I would need to decrank, but I am just wondering if my droop stop clearance looks good enough that longer shocks would improve the ride. I don't want to decrank, so I know it will never ride like stock again, but if I could make it ride a little better than now I would be happy.

You definitely have plenty of room. I've got cranked rc keys and you have a lot more room than me

There is barely any thread left on the torsion bar bolts...I could maybe turn them once or twice before they run out of thread. It sounds like longer shocks might be the ticket. Unfortunately i can't afford Bilsteins, but would it make sense to look for a less expensive shock of roughly the same size as the Bilstein 5100? I believe those shocks are made for trucks with a small lift, am I right? I really appreciate all the help guys.

Do i need longer shocks or just new shocks? I can't afford Bilsteins, so I would be looking at Monroe Reflex or Sensatrac or something a bit cheaper.

Okay, so after doing some more research, I think I am going to purchase some Rancho RS5371 shocks (the ones made for a 1-2.5" front lift). From what I have read online, these should improve my ride quality over the maxed out stock shocks with 115,000 miles on them. I can't afford Bilsteins and it doesn't look like Monroe makes a shock for lifted or leveled trucks. Plus, I can get two Ranchos for the front for only about $80, which I think is a good deal. Any input?

I have those shocks with my leveling kit and I love em

They cranked it without telling me. I like the way it looks leveled though, and am planning on running 285/70/17 when I need new tires. Zach1990, how would you describe the ride of your truck?

When it was leveled with rc keys and 265 dayton at's and the ranchos it road great considering the level and all. Still kinda bumpy but not bad. Now that its sitting on 305 buckshots it rides like a tank. All in all you'll be happy with the ranchos, I was.
