door rattle

Had it on another truck, had my then 4 year old listen for it and find it for me, and then had her press on different parts until it stopped while I drove on down the road to isolate the sound. We found it, I gave it a smack with my palm and it was gone, for good. Do you have a four year old? If not, try to isolate the sound and then make sure that panel's clips are all in tightly. Sometimes pulling a panel out slightly helps instead, in which case you could put a piece if thin foam tape behind the part making noise. Worst case scenario is not finding it, in that case you can use the GM auto tuned fully adjustable sound damper and modifier to cancel out the noise made by the panel. it's the round knob in the middle of the dashboard, turn it clockwise until the rattling sound is no longer audible. :)

Check your weather stripping. I swore my doors were rattleing and found it to be the weather stripping just needed to be sprayed with silicone spray. Wash and dry it frst, then spray or wipe it down with the spray. The best spray will be "%100 percent silicone".

I had an annoying rattle from the drivers door anytime a bump or rough road was encountered. I tore the door apart twice and found nothing each time. Dealer could not find anything the first time. Second time around they found a broken striker pin in the door handle mechanism. Fixed under warranty and no more rattle.

My 99 GMT800 had a bad rattle in the door. It turned out to be a loose bolt holding the window regulator. Just miles of vibration on dirt roads must have loosened it.

I hear a very similar rattle coming from my 08 crewcab rear door now. The noise is damped when the window is up tight, but when the window is down, it rattles like a bucket of bolts. Regulator seems to be my problem again.

There is a TSB for the Weatherstripping on the newer ext cab trucks. They have created a different type of weatherstrip to help decrease the chattering the original ones make.

Also on my 2007 GMT-900 I found that my door panel was making contact with my seatbelt mount on the floor of my ext cab which was causing some rattling as well.
