2011 Transfer Case Fluid Change Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am changing the transfer case fluid on my 2011 1500 Z-71. I bought replacement fill and drain bolts. I received two different kinds. Two of them have magnets and two don't. The two that do have the magnets are longer than the ones that don't.

I removed the ones from my truck and they are the style without the magnet.

Will I hurt anything putting the magnet ones in? The appear to be the same diamater and I like the idea of having the magnet. From doing a google search most people with the 2011 had the style with the magnet on the bolt. I guess I am confused why mine didn't come with it.

Anyone else had this issue or is it just me? thanks guys.....

ya dont have to replace the plugs every service,,,use the magnet plug but dont freak out when you change the oil next time because there is some fur on the magnet ,lol

When i did my transfer on my 2011 mine had the magnet on the drain bolt. Its was covered in about an inch of metal fur. Just use the magnetized one on the lower drain bolt and use the normal bolt on the fill hole up top.
