Samsung Galaxy S3 bluetooth issues

Hey Guys,

I have a quick question about the advent Ogm1 and the Samsung S3 phone. I had an S2 and it worked flawlessly for the Bluetooth...But..since I bought an S3 (android 4.1.1) people tell me they hear a ton of static when I speak via the OGM1. I can hear them just fine..but they hear tons of static. I then paired the phone to the GM Bluetooth system...and they say I sound clear as a bell.

I have the latest software for the OGM1 (as of November 2012) and the S2 galaxy worked fine on it. I tried using the AD2P button (not sure what it does) on the OGM1 and it made ZERO difference.

Walt...I guess this falls in your backyard...any ideas?

I am having the exact same issue with the Advent OGM1 in my Tahoe. I recently purchased (1/15/2013) a Samsung Galaxy S3 and callers say I sound crackly. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me very well. I tried syncing an iPhone 4S with my OGM1 and it worked better than the Galaxy S3 but not great (sounds like you’re in a tin can). This is a real bummer do to the fact the GM stock Bluetooth worked amazingly well. In an effort to fix this I reinstalled the latest firmware and did a system reset and it did nothing to improve the sound issue. My 2 year old HTC Inspire had no such sound issues. It wasn’t perfect compared to the GM stock Bluetooth but tolerable. I'm curious how the Parrot Bluetooth works for others using the OGM1? Maybe if enough OGM1 owners voice this issue the Bluetooth software can be fixed/updated on the Samsung Galaxy S3 or on the Advent OGM1 not sure who’s issue it is?... For now I’m back to using my 3 year old $50 Bluetooth headset in my truck which works perfectly.

I have forwarded the questions to the people that make a difference at Advent, so hopefully we can get an answer relatively quickly in terms of what the problems are ( if they even know what they are yet) and when a fix could be expected.

I'll try to keep you posted with what I know when I know it...

Thanks Walt! I'm guessing a fix will be coming from Samsung shortly. Lots of people are using the Bluetooth technology in their cars and are going to be looking for a solution. I'll post any new info I receive and I'm guessing you will too.

Response from Samsung Tech Support - I tried everything listed with no change to the in call static issues.

Thank you for your inquiry. We understand that the other party hears a static noise when you are engage in a call in your Samsung Galaxy S III which is synced in your car kit. We also understand that this started to happen after installing the Android 4.1.1 update. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you.

If you haven't done so, please soft reset the phone by removing the battery for three to five seconds. Soft reset will refresh all the running applications in your device.

If soft reset didn't work, we suggest clearing the data of Bluetooth share under application manager. On the Home Screen, tap on Menu - Settings - Application Manager - Bluetooth share - Clear Data.

We also suggest un-pairing the Bluetooth connection of this two devices then re-establish back to fix this concern. Please check the link below for this process.

Solution: If "Motion" is activated (On) the phone will not properly connect via bluetooth. This feature is toggled in "Settings".

I stumbled into this solution after hours without success with Onstar and Samsung. It appears some Apps turn this feature on but do not turn it off.

Hope this helps.

Bluetooth still broken no change what so ever after over 2 months... Anybody else had any luck with a fix for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the broken Bluetooth while using the OGM1? Any idea when or even if a fix may be on the way?

My S3 works with the bluetooth in my truck, but I don't have the DVD/Nav in mine. Just the plain Bose system. All it is good for is phone calls though, which is kinda lame.

Has anyone had any luck getting the Galaxy S3 Bluetooth to work with the Advent OGM1? The robotic chainsaw sound callers hear seems to have been around for about six months now with no fix. Why can't Advent make the changes to the S3 like they did for the iphone to improve its Bluetooth quality?

I just had my truck in for service and test drove a 2013 enclave with the new navigation. Bluetooth worked perfectly with the S3??? Can someone explain to me why Advent is blaming Samsung for this issue???

I have just purchased the 2014 GMC Terrain and they paired my Samsung Galaxy S3 via the Bluetooth and it works good except when I dial via the voice commands the by number works great but when I try the by name it returns random numbers so I took it to the dealer and the tech tried his IPhone and it does the same same thing by number works great but by name returns random numbers and garbage. Any ideas? Thanks.
