If your local walmart has stopped selling ammo then they are probably waiting until the heat blows over or just can't keep it in stock

No walmart has stopped selling it- they issued a statement saying such after rumors starting swirling that they had done so. They probably just can't keep anything in stock. Same crap as after Obama won in 2008- people who are friends of employees get calls when stock comes in, they swoop in, buy all of it and flip it for absurd prices. On an MI gun owner site I also frequent there are jackasses trying to sell 5.56 for $1/round.

You could likely sell it for $1/round. I refuse to do so- I bought 1000 rounds this summer and still have a little over 600. I can wait this out.

And for what it's worth I walked into Meijer last weekend to get some things and they happened to have .45 in stock. I took the four boxes (200 rounds) home for $19/box. Price isn't great but I wanted to get the HK to the range. I have 1000 rounds of .45 coming in Monday too. After that I'll be minimizing my range trip till the panic BS blows over.

I haven't taken the AR out because I'm not wanting to go through my stash. Its 560 rounds. I have about 150 of .45

I love having guns but are people so crazy as to really pay more for ammo than its really worth?

It's not like its going away. Sounds insane to me. Maybe I should move south and get in on flipping ammo.

I keep at 100 rounds of my centerfire rifle's ammo stores.

I got crates of ammo for my SKS.

12 gauge, I keep a few boxes of buck shot and slugs. And a few crates of bird shot.

My .22 stores is in the thousands.

I bet my box of 550 Remington .22 rounds is worth more than my box of 20 fancy Hornady .30-06 ammo is. .22 is the hardest to find it seems like.

I try to keep 700-1000 rounds for pistol calibers (9mm, 357 Sig and .45). Not sure about the AR, I'd like a ton more ammo but I won't be buying any at these prices. I also have probably 700 rounds of .22 but its cheap stuff. My Glock can also shoot .40 so if a deal ever presented itself on that I'd buy some.
