sputnik360 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Well I mostly want it because of the surplus ammo I can get for it You can get surplus ammo for 7.62x51mm (.308). Plus it is a NATO round so it will always be plentiful AND if SHTF you will be able to find it. Seems like a no brainer to me. Mosins are okay, but if you pay a penny over $100, you got screwed. Spend it on something like one of these for around $300. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_62_974/products_id/70946/Savage+AXIS+308 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_62_974/products_id/78625/Savage+AXIS+SR+308+TB
kstruckcountry Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I love my new Savage in .30-06. Light, shoots well and looks great. I considered .308, but .30-06 is my favorite round. I love the trigger on the gun as well. PS: .30-06 ammo is one of the only calibers I've seen much of here.
MikeNH Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Plus it is a NATO round so it will always be plentiful AND if SHTF you will be able to find it. Seems like a no brainer to me. This is why I got the parts to let my Glock shoot 357, .40 or 9mm. Granted 9mm is obviously the most plentiful of the three but I like increasing my odds. Plus I got all the parts when the prices were better. The 9mm barrel and mags already paid for themselves in savings over 357 at the range. I have not shot any .40 yet but it is good to go. Now if only you could make 45 shoot out of the same gun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BlackZ71Silverado Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 ^^^^^^^^^ Exactly....Every Glock .40cal (23,22,27) I have I have 9mm/.357sig conversion barrels. Can shoot whatever I want. No need to buy a .357Sig specific because changing a barrel is MUCH cheaper.
