91K5 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I have a 91 K5 and I need to replace the engine in it. Should I go back with a stock 350 GM engine or try one of the other guys that build reman. engines. I am looking to add some HP as well. I have looked at Marshall engines but they have some bad reviews online. Has anyone had experience with this lately and could point me in the right direction. Thanks
hidefmike Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 91, get yourself a 5.3 from the pick and pull along with the throttle by wire setup and the ECM. We switched my 89 TBI over to the FI 5.3 and it was awesome. I put about $850 total in the set-up, along with a couple cases of beer for my "crew".
FL335i Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 What hear 5.3 Hidefmike? 2014+? My '89 K5 has 113k original miles and runs great. All stock. I replaced the valve stem seals which were rotted out and that fixed all the smoking.
