1995 GMC 5.7 L

Difficult to start will not continue to idle, dies right away.

Can get it started... must continue to work throttle up and down to just keep running... soon as you let off the pedal it drops to about 800 rpm goes up to aprox1150rpm and dies immediately.??????

Does anyone have some advice??????

Fuel filter clogged up? Timing fell out of adjustment? Injectors getting gummed up? Air filter dirty?

 

Check the easy stuff first. If still can get it, I'd see about getting it to a shop.

Went through the easy stuff ended up at the fuel pump& filter assy..

 

Pretty easy to remove the bed , about 45 min. And a couple strong backs.

 

The fuel pump filter was nasty, I think the root of the problem was low fuel pressure, changed pump and filter assy.

Runs like a champ!
