2012 GMC Sierra Stone Chips!!! Anyone Else?

I have a bright red Sierra that I took back with 5 chips in less than 400 miles on it to show the new car Manager where I bought it. Now with 9100 miles on it the rockers are covered. I added mud flaps to help but I think this is exsesive!

 

I have driven down one dirt road at 15 MPH and normally avoid then at all cost.

My question is this just the new paint? And I should expect to just live with it? Or because my Sierra before this was white I just never saw them....This is driving me crazy, I can't stand to wash it because I just keep seeing more.

 

Another possibility is my tires that I paid more for.lol they are 265-65-18 Bridgestone duellers ATs that seem to pick up everything.

So either my paint is crap or defective...thoughts?

Most new vehicles have junk paint in terms of durability. Don't know if its because the new stuff is eco-friendly or just thinner to shave cost but this truck, my Subaru and the Taco all got paint damage shockingly easy.

It is the body design and the tires. My 2011 with the same tires gets some stone chips and I installed the GMC splash guards the day I got it. Run through a little mud and you will see where the tires throw stuff back the sides. I even get hits clear up above the rear wheel wells (from the front tires). I covered the rockers with 3M film to avoid the damage there.

It's the Bridgestone tires. I have the same problem, only after I switched to the BF's from the Goodyears. The BF's have such deep and wide tread. Great for traction, and gravels!

 

What I do is "warm up" my tires, race car style. Lightly swerving left to right once back on pavement at low speed typically clears the rocks out without any damage.

My 2010 has/had the same issue, I bought some 3M film and covered the offending areas, added mud guards and step bars. Some of my stone chips are above the door handles on the doors.
