Its time to update phones and have it narrowed down to the Galaxy 3 or Razr Maxx Hd. I have read about the specs and comparisons online but want real world feedback. I especially want to hear any problems people are having or what the phone is missing that they wish it had. I would be using it for work and personal use, emails, lots of talktime and heavy internet use. any help is appreciated.

I like my RAZR maxx and want the HD. But who knows I may go with the next GS because I'll be buying a Samsung lap top in a couple months

I have the Galaxy 3 and I use about 90mb a day in data, probably 40 calls a day and maybe 60 text messages, listen to music most of the day, and the battery lasts about 5 - 6 hours without a charge. Other than that the phone is awesome.

i deal with many types of phones with my job. I recommend the iPhone 5. It doesn't crash, always works, it's pretty tough (i broke an iPhone 4 by dropping it). I've dropped my 5 twice and it didn't hurt it at all. The iPhone has an awesome battery and the app store is huge. My Verizon LTE data runs over 20mbps too. iPhones are also easy to sell used, many electronic stores will pay big money for a used iPhone. I also just like the quality feel of an iPhone.

My wife actually will be getting the iphone5 but we run some programs at work that don't work with Apple products so thats not a option for me.

Go with galaxy 3. I had the maxx hd and had nothing but problems with it. The battery would heat up to point of phone was hot to touch and I sometimes would show full 4 G but still would get no signal. Verizon could not figureit out. Upgraded to HTC DNA instead. Mi/as the battery life but the problems weren't worth it. I'm not the only one. Problems listed online too.

Galaxy S4 is coming out next month I think...

I thought about that but did a little research and all I could find is being released in the UK and Russia at end of April. I even contacted Verizon and they don't have a definate release date yet. The problem is if its like the Galaxy 3 the US won't get it for about 2 months after that, which would be the end of June at earliest. I don't know if I can wait that long as my current phone is starting to have some issues.

I read somewhere that it would be available sometimes in May here. I also read that it would cost as much as the S3.

That would be worth waiting for if thats true, as long as my current phone holds out. The S4 sounds like a decent upgrade from the S3, better processor and a better camera.

Finally upgraded phones to the s4 on Friday. I found out it was being released soon so waited for it to come out. After having the Droid 3 for the last 2 years all I can say is WOW! The s4 is amazingly fast, the quad core processor is no joke. The screen has great color and is very crisp. Haven't used all the gadgets yet but after a couple days I'm very impressed. Heard some say the battery isn't the best but mine lasts about 18 hrs with pretty heavy use. Its only been a few days so i will see how it lasts.

With pretty heavy use the battery disappoints me. It gives a warning before 8 hours. I have wifi and bluetooth on all day and i am on tapatalk most of the day. Also when I plug in my long charger it gives me this message and takes all night to go from 20% to 80% charge. Also can someone tell me how to get my phone number and address off the lock screen

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
