AR prices seem to be going back to normal

I just came back from spring break with the family and there was a Bass Pro shop by the place we were at. They have 4 ARs in stock and the prices seem back to "normal". Ammo was still in short supply, but I was glad to see they did not want a Bushmaster for something crazy like 1100 bucks. I just wish my local Walmart would have a Sig M400 enhanced in stock.

Just wait until all the panic tards start dumpin all the stuff they've been getting raped buying in the past couple months. Gonna be some good deals towards the end of the year.

Overpaid a bit for it , but i cant run out and i want my supply up before the ny "safe act" kicks in. F this BS!

I got 325 rd. of 22 LR for 49.99 . 6 Mo. ago this would have been $23

Rifles seem to be returning to normal prices and are approaching normal availability. One of my LGSs had probably 10 ARs on the wall selling for below MSRP. No more bushies and stags going for 1200+. Some of the higher end ARs are still kinda spendy. I'm going to be ordering a Daniel Defense upper in a couple weeks for MSRP from the factory. They have a pretty good set up on their website for the custom orders. Enter your email address and they email you when they are able to build/ship your order within 7 days. Then you have 84 hrs to make you build and pay. I signed up for it thinking it was going to take a month or two. I got my build invite within 2 weeks of signing up. That's not bad at all. I didn't have the toy funds ready yet (tax return present) so I'm just going to sign up again in a couple weeks.

For me (in Iowa), ammo is the problem, not guns. I was planning on going to a Rob Pincus 2 day class in June, but I'm afraid to shoot my ammo there and then not be able to replenish my stockpile.

It looks like the ammo is a problem everywhere. Some websites i found are trying to sell a box of 50 rounds for $23-30! And thats for cheap Federal / blazer / elly prime. I hated paying the $50 for 325 , but its not as bad as some of the rape on other sites.

Dave, if I bought anything for any more than the pre-panic prices, I probably would just chalk it up to, well damn it could of happened. I think the only thing I bought for panic type prices was a Del-ton stripped lower reciever, which was an incase they actually pass this BS, I had a pre-ban reciever and could still build another project..

My stripped was 169.99, and Deltons site sells them for 120, which I would still need to pay a FLL to transfer it so I didn't mind giving our local guy i've bought multiple firearms from the coin.

As for ammo, I think ammo supply and prices are going to take longer to get to pre-panic levels for the simple fact of back ordering, I've seen a bit of ammo hoarding and back ordering on Arfcom. So it may be a bit, I've seen AR's and some accessories start trickling back in the last 2 weeks, but I havn't found any .223/5.56 since the first week of February in my area. I was amazed I was able to stockpile around 800 rounds from dec-jan, but i've also shot about 400 of them so far. Also to my own amazement, I picked up some Lancer L5's at my LGS, previously only junk on the shelves were ProMag's.

I picked up 1500 rounds .223 Tulammo at Walmart here a month back. Just have to hit it right. They had 500 round tins, with a 3 box limit. Only downside is its steel cased, so I can't reload it. Otherwise it would have been a steal! Can't complain though at 30 cents a round with tax.

Hell no you cant.. Just clean after each shooting session with Tula or wolf, they corrode Foul the barrel a bit more.

Neither Tula or Wolf is use corrosive powder or primers. They are perfectly safe to shoot, they are dirtier then most american made ammo though. Corrosive ammo is gonna be the military surplus, the stuff that is made to sit around for decades.

Yup, it is not corrosive. However the Bi-metal jacketed bullets typically used in steel cased ammo significantly wears your barrel and chamber. The steel cases also wear the extractors. Tula is the worst because of the powder they use. It burns much faster, so by the time the "explosion" has reached the gas ports, it is much lower in pressure than other rounds. This causes the bolt to cycle much slower and lead to failures to feed. If you want to shoot a ton of it, I'd recommend looking into increasing the size of your gas ports.

Here is a really good comparison of brass vs steel cased ammo (even if they do use shitty non-milspec Bushmasters..)

Was at my LGS yesterday while running errands and picked up some polymer Troy mags to try, they finally had complete AR's back in stock, 3-4 on the shelf and a few generic LW carbine uppers. Was a nice surprise, and none of it was insanely priced either, about 100-150$ more than I would of expected last fall.
