And a bit of useful info for anyone with a 99-02. The ac/heat controller on the dash that includes ac and recirculation buttons has been discontinued

I'm glad you have it working again but i doubt the wiring going to the blend actuator was the cause of it. I should have been more specific before....what you described sounded like the wiring going to the fan motor, specifically the resistor pack. If it happens again check the wiring, plug and the resistor for signs of over heating. Thanks for the info on the HVAC controller....it's nice to know that GM is pretty much writing off 10 year old + vehicles.

Yeah I figured as much but I'm not gonna question it for now. We all know how fun intermittant problems can be  and I just got curious and looked and could not find that part so I contacted a body shop who could not find it so they called a dealer they use and found out its discontinued. Sure hope that doesn't mess up!

It would be one thing if it were offered through aftermarket channels but so far I've found nothing. I've owned only Chevrolet's since I was 15 and that was a long time ago....this truck may be my last though. If you have any more problems w/ the HVAC system let me know and we'll get it fixed.

FYI....I contacted www.gmpartsdirect.com customer service about the HVAC controller last night and I received this response this morning:

Thank you for choosing GMPartsDirect.com. Part number 19244874 is the heater and A/C control with rear window defog switch. Unfortunately, this part is currently not eligible for sale. It is not discontinued at this time, however, it is on restriction from GM.

Maybe one of the GM guru's here can tell us just what that means....lol.
