GMC extended warranty options

Now that I am getting closer to upgrading my truck I am curious what will I get offered when they sit me down and try to upsell me on a extended warranty. In 2010 I purchased a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and along with it I purchased a extended warranty through Chrysler, through my dealer. It is a bumper to bumper mechanical warranty so it was quite pricey. When I got home I seen on jeepgarage.org a dealership that was offering the same warranty for almost half the price. so I cancelled the first one and resigned with the other jeep dealer.

 

My question is does anybody have any advice from there dealings with this part of there sale?

If you are going to buy an extended warranty, you learned your lesson from the Jeep. Do the same for the GM - search out the best price for the same warranty.

Agreed....I also bought a Ford warranty from a dealer online and saved well over $1000

If your gonna get a extended warranty your best off getting a genuine GM GMPP warranty.

 

These guys sell them online with a better discount than you could find at your local dealer.

It is a sucker sell. If you bought a product you need more warranty on, you bought the wrong product. Huge money maker for the seller.

 

That's my take on extended warranties in general. But I plan on keeping my truck for at least 7 or 8 more years. My truck does plow duty and I'm willing to bet $2000 that on/by the end of the extended warranty I'm at least even. Sucker bet? Maybe but peace of mind IMO.

The extended warranty company on my 2003 paid out more than I paid for it. They're not always a losing proposition.

Thanks for the input. I am not usually a extended warranty person but Since I am plowing and intend on keeping it for at least 7 years I just feel that its a warm and fuzzy feeling I would just prefer to have. Absolutely the GM warranty is the only way I would go, Thanks for the link!

i purchased a refundable warrenty on my new pickup. it cost alot more then the other warrenties but if i don't use it i get 100% of my money back.
