I have a 2001 chevy tahoe 5.3 130,000miles.

The truck had a slow coolant leak for a while, could see coolant on skid plates underneathe, etc.

Now leak has gotten worse when truck shuts down it leaces a nice patch on pavement.

Mechanic says it looks like coolant is leaking from the timing chain cover.

Is this possible? i dont think so, but i need a gm professionals opinion.

All my research makes me think its the gaskets behind the waterpump, I just dont have the time to tear it off myself on a weekend.

Thanks in advance.

Yep - that would be the water pump gaskets. If you have coolant pissing out the timing cover, I don't think you'd be going anywhere in that truck.

haha, i wasn't sure if this waterpump had passages thru the cover like i read about some v6s and fords, or threaded into the water jacket.
